Purpose and Vision
The purpose of the People Powered Workforce Initiative is to design a cohesive strategy to expand, diversify, train, and retain the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) workforce in Washington State. After meaningful conversations with the providers, administrators, and system partners working in the field, the project’s Design Team created an aspirational vision for the future. Making this vision a reality will take teamwork across the entire field. The Call to Action section of this report shares ideas on how to begin.
We envision an IECMH workforce whose relational, emotional, physical, spiritual, and economic wellbeing are prioritized so that they can better prioritize the wellbeing of young children, families, and communities. In order to achieve this, our systems must be reimagined to promote interconnectedness, center relational healing, uphold community voice, honor diverse worldviews, and create a sense of belonging for generations to come.
